BSLN mid-term conference 2010 "Working for sustainable labour markets"
11 May 2010 Vilnius, Lithuania
The BSLN mid-term conference was successfully realised and widely acclaimed on 11 May 2010 in Vilnius.
From the great venue over the active participants up to the insightful presentations and discussions everyone could enjoy a satisfactory conference day in its entirety. This was another major step towards the aim deriving from the BSLN’s general philosophy of bringing people together which have a substantial interest in sustainable labour markets in the
Programme of the BSLN mid-term conference
The keynote speakers emphasised their views on topics around the labour market sustainability and social dialogue in the BSR.
In order to deal with special issues in smaller groups the gathering was, in the afternoon, divided into three working sessions:
- Developing social dialogue in the
- Economic development in the
- Labour force mobility
In these sessions, external experts found a floor to tell about their experiences but also first project results could be presented.
The whole day was summarised by the reports from the working sessions and in the following round table discussion in which the keynote speakers and the chairs of the working sessions participated.
The discussion participants pointed out that there is a big need for this kind of project and that it is very important to deal with problems in the region together in cooperation. Development of the region is only possible if all (social) partners are involved. The social partners have to be strong cooperation partners that they are heard by the governments; social partnership has to be built with trust and respect.
The EU Baltic Sea Strategy provides an excellent frame for the project activities.
We would like to thank all participants for their contribution to both the success of the BSLN mid-term conference and the BSLN project's achievements so far.
